Zhipu's programming product ZCode has drawn scrutiny over unauthorized code repository uploads to cloud servers. 1 The company has identified the source of the issue: the "Repo Wiki" feature within the "Code Repository Index" function was enabled by default at launch, causing repository data from certain users to be transmitted to the cloud during Wiki page generation. 1 Although the uploaded repository data was immediately deleted from the cloud after the Wiki pages were created and was never retained, users were not notified of this process in advance. 1
In response, Zhipu has confirmed that the problem has been resolved. 1 The company announced plans to open source the ZCode codebase in the near term and will invite third-party reviewers to audit the code. 1 As a gesture toward affected users, Zhipu will provide all users with an additional weekly quota reset, effective September 18th. 1
