Shenzhen's Dapeng New Area is preparing for the imminent opening of the Pengba Corridor, a major public infrastructure project designed to significantly improve connectivity in the region.1 The corridor spans 5.908 kilometers and features four lanes in both directions with a design speed of 50 kilometers per hour.1 Once operational, it will reduce travel time between Bagang and the Pengcheng district from 30 minutes to under 10 minutes.1
The project formally commenced construction in November 2023, with the critical Pannya Mountain tunnel section achieving dual-tunnel breakthrough in February 2026.1 The corridor incorporates five supporting bridges along its length and will serve as a vital link connecting two major municipal development zones: the Bagang Science and Innovation City and the Longqi Bay Central Tourism Area.1 Following its opening, the corridor will function as the Dapeng Peninsula's second major arterial road, complementing the existing Pingxi Road, and is expected to substantially alleviate traffic congestion during peak holiday periods.1
