Zin appeared before the House Foreign Affairs Committee's Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific as Xi prepared to arrive in Washington for a state visit on Wednesday.1 According to Trump's account, Xi Jinping indicated the matter would be "very tricky" to resolve.1 The detained scholar has faced interrogation sessions lasting up to six hours daily since his arrest.1 Trump's previous engagement with the Chinese leader yielded results: underground church leader Jin Mingri was released within two months following their last meeting.1
