Zhu has delivered more than 50 lectures across the country since 2013, advocating for increased emphasis on and strengthening of gifted education.1 Shenzhen Middle School has operated an accelerated education pilot program since 1993 and now offers over 360 school-based elective courses.1 The school has also established innovation laboratories in collaboration with leading institutions including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Huawei, Tencent, and DJI.1
Zhang Lin, Party secretary of Longhua District, responded with three strategic requirements for the district's education sector: raising institutional position and cultivating commitment to talent development; grounding efforts in local conditions while pursuing distinctive development; and fostering coordinated integration to build a supportive ecosystem.1 The district has a population of approximately three million, with roughly 30,000 students per grade cohort, and based on estimates that gifted children constitute three to five percent of the student population, this represents significant potential for talent identification and development.1
