China's delegation includes 548 athletes making their Asian Games debut and 306 athletes with prior Olympic or Asian Games experience.1 The squad features 36 Olympic champions and maintains an average age of 24 years, with the youngest athlete at 12 and the oldest at 41.1 Athletes born after 2005 account for 27 percent of the delegation.1 According to delegation secretary-general Zhang Xin, the team is "confident in maintaining the top position in both the gold medal and overall medal counts."1
China holds particular strength in traditional disciplines including diving, gymnastics, weightlifting, shooting, table tennis, and badminton, while also possessing competitive advantages in swimming and track and field events.1 However, the delegation faces intense competition from host nation Japan, which deployed 932 athletes across all 43 sports, and South Korea, which sent 792 athletes to compete in 41 events.1
