Over its 15-year operational history, the Jiankecenter has demonstrated significant environmental improvements, with the number of biodiversity species expanding from 37 to over 180.1 The building has achieved a green coverage rate of 32.33 percent through strategic design measures.1 Energy efficiency gains have been substantial, with the building reducing air-conditioning coverage by 30 percent and air-conditioning energy consumption by 63 percent through natural ventilation systems.1 The second floor now provides flexible rental spaces starting at 50 square meters, while the fourth floor is planned for youth startup incubation.1
Merlin Street is advancing this transformation as part of its broader HarmonyOS Ecological Valley initiative, aiming to convert industrial spaces into comprehensive hubs connecting technology, talent, market opportunities, and quality of life.1 Within approximately one square kilometer, the district is piloting HarmonyOS full-scenario applications including seamless office environments, barrier-free education, non-intrusive healthcare, worry-free elderly care, contactless governance, and unobstructed transportation.1
