China is accelerating the construction of next-generation communication infrastructure, establishing the world's largest-scale telecommunications network facilities.1 As of late July, the nation has deployed 5.154 million 5G base stations nationwide, serving 1.303 billion 5G mobile users.1 Additionally, the country maintains 1.27 billion internet broadband access ports, with 33.04 million 10G PON ports capable of providing gigabit network services.1
The emerging communication architecture encompasses 5G-A, 6G, and satellite internet technologies, enabling diverse connectivity across terrestrial, aerial, maritime, and space domains while significantly enhancing network capacity.1 The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has set a target to complete a comprehensive, well-performing next-generation communication network by 2030.1 These advanced networks are now powering applications in intelligent manufacturing, low-altitude economy, and ocean development, while simultaneously modernizing critical infrastructure such as water and power systems.1
Real-world deployment demonstrates substantial progress across multiple sectors. More than 80,000 5G industry-specific virtual private networks have been established nationwide, and 5G and gigabit optical network applications have penetrated 94 major categories of the national economy.1 Over 26,000 "5G + Industrial Internet of Things" projects are under construction, with 1,260 5G factories already operational and classified by tier.1 Huaneng Yimin open-pit mine has become the world's first mining operation to achieve coordinated autonomous operation of 100 unmanned trucks over a 5G-A network.1 Chang'an Automotive's intelligent manufacturing facility connects over 12,000 devices through 5G networks, collecting data from one million data points every second.1
