Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe stated: "We are still investigating whether there is only one perpetrator or a group of men involved in these murders."1 Police Minister Firoz Cachalia said: "The deaths of these young women should not be in vain."1 President Cyril Ramaphosa ordered police on Tuesday to prioritize the investigation, noting that these deaths are generating "fear and uncertainty."1 According to United Nations data, approximately one-third of South African women experience physical or sexual violence during their lifetime.1
