A Bangladesh court on September 15 handed down death sentences in absentia against seven senior officials of the Awami League, the party of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for crimes against humanity allegedly committed during anti-government protests from July to August 2024.1 The convicted individuals, who include former Awami League Secretary General Obaidul Quader and former Information Minister Muhammad Ali Arafat, remain at large and have not been apprehended.1
