The action reflects growing concerns about the "name in existence, substance in reality" phenomenon plaguing China's attraction classification system 1. Moving forward, the province applies a review standard whereby 4A-level and lower attractions undergo comprehensive assessment every five years, with annual spot checks covering no fewer than 10 percent of sites, while 5A-level attractions face full review every three years alongside the same annual inspection threshold 1.
