Zhou Hong, former chief executive officer of Wan Long Holdings Group, a Hong Kong-listed company, has been sentenced to 10 years and 8 months in prison by the Hong Kong High Court for fraud.1 Zhou orchestrated an elaborate scheme between 2020 and 2021, fabricating cosmetic product procurement transactions to misappropriate 60.17 million Hong Kong dollars in company funds, which he then used to purchase 11 luxury watches for personal use.1
The court found that Zhou issued 16 company checks to three suppliers as part of the fraudulent scheme.1 Judge Kwok Kai-on characterized the case as a textbook instance of embezzlement by a person in a position of trust, noting that the crime was carefully premeditated and sustained over an extended period.1 In addition to the prison sentence, Zhou was ordered to compensate the company 51.57 million Hong Kong dollars and is barred from serving as a company director for 15 years.1
