A man known online as "Iron Head," whose real name is Dong Guangming, has been sentenced to eight years in prison by the Binjiang District People's Court of Hangzhou for extortion and blackmail.1 Dong was convicted after allegedly using threats of exposing businesses to demand valuables from livestream broadcasters who sell products.1
The case gained widespread attention following an incident on May 31, 2024, when Dong and associates spray-painted and urinated on stone pillars at the entrance of the Yasukuni Shrine in Japan.1 Following this incident, Dong allegedly leveraged his notoriety to extort money from e-commerce influencers by threatening to publicize alleged misconduct by businesses they promoted, demanding hundreds of grams of gold in the process.1 The court determined that Dong and his associates possessed the characteristics of an "organized evil force."1
In addition to his prison sentence, Dong was fined 130,000 yuan, approximately 610,000 Taiwan dollars.1 Five other defendants in the case received sentences ranging from nine months to thirteen years.1
