The planned talks between Xi and Modi are expected to address trade and border issues, with both sides seeking to strengthen relations that affect a combined population of 2.8 billion people.2 China stated its willingness to work with India "from a strategic perspective and long-term angle to grasp China-India relations, strengthen communication, deepen cooperation, and properly handle differences."1 The BRICS summit, being held at Bharat Mandapam venue, will bring together multiple member states and partner nations representing nearly 37 billion people globally and close to 40 percent of global GDP.3
