Russia conducted an aerial attack on a shopping centre in Pavlohrad, located in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine, resulting in five deaths and multiple injuries.12 The two sources report differing casualty figures for the wider region: one indicates 67 injured including eight children,1 while another reports 79 injured overall across the Dnipropetrovsk region.2 The strike occurred during daytime hours when streets were crowded with people.1

Ukrainian officials characterized the attack as part of a systematic pattern of targeting civilian infrastructure. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russia deliberately strikes locations "where it knows people will gather, aiming to maximize casualties, spread fear and put pressure on Ukrainian society."2 Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi reported that Russian attacks on commercial and civilian infrastructure are "rapidly increasing."2 The assault on Pavlohrad follows a series of strikes this week on shopping centres in Zaporizhzhia and Sumy,1 as well as an earlier attack on a shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih last month that killed at least 16 people and wounded 130.1

In a separate development, Russia reported that Ukraine conducted a maritime drone attack on Sochi on Wednesday evening, resulting in 28 injuries.1 Kyiv's mayor Volodymyr Klitschenko reported that two fuel storage facilities in the Obolon and Dniprovskyi districts of the capital were struck on the morning of the attack.2
