An Angolan court has handed down jail sentences to two Russian nationals on charges of terrorism and espionage. Political adviser Igor Radin was sentenced to 11 years in prison, while translator Lev Rakshtanov received an 8-year sentence. [1]
The two men were accused of inciting anti-government protests, spreading disinformation, and attempting to interfere in Angola's presidential election scheduled for the following year. According to the prosecution, the defendants paid more than $24,000 (£18,000) to local journalists and experts to disseminate pro-Russian and anti-government content.
