Five students from Shenzhen Guangming District High School have won the gold award at the 2026 Silicon Valley International Innovation Festival for their self-developed lithium battery detection instrument based on ultrasonic and RFID multi-sensor technology 1. The device emerged as a standout among nearly 400 competing innovations from 35 countries and regions worldwide 1.
The detection system addresses critical challenges in lithium battery inspection by employing ultrasonic technology to penetrate battery interiors and identify microscopic defects such as electrode wrinkles and abnormal electrolyte distribution 1. Complementing this capability, the instrument integrates RFID technology to assign each lithium battery a unique "electronic identity card" for complete lifecycle traceability 1.
The competition was organized by the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA) 1. The winning team comprises five students: Liu Chang, Jiang Hongyue, Huang Wenzhen, Zou Zhengxi, and Wang Ruohan 1.
