Peruvian author Gian Pierre Codarupo has spent nearly two months in Shenzhen as part of the 2026 "Global Writers Write Guangdong" initiative, producing a substantial body of literary work that has exceeded the program's minimum output requirements 1. During his residency, Codarupo has been profoundly influenced by Shenzhen's defining characteristics. Codarupo's unconventional career path—having worked as a secondary school teacher, fish factory laborer, delivery driver, restaurant kitchen staff, and hostel manager 1—informs his ability to capture diverse human experiences. Currently serving as an editor at Ultramarina C&D publishing house in Spain 1, he views his Shenzhen sojourn as deepening his connection to China.
