A British fugitive sought in connection with the deaths of his wife and two daughters has admitted to illegal firearm charges in South Africa.1 Ndodana-Mckayi Thuma, who was wanted in the United Kingdom over the killings, appeared in court in Johannesburg and pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition, as well as entering the country illegally.1
Thuma's wife, Notabo Zandilyn Thuma, and their daughters Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, were discovered dead in their home near Bedford in North London on July 6, each having sustained head injuries.1 Thuma fled the United Kingdom on July 4, traveling through Zimbabwe before reaching South Africa.1 He was arrested in Johannesburg on July 10 while in possession of a firearm and ammunition.1 South African authorities suspect he intended to use the weapon to take his own life.1
Following the completion of legal proceedings in South Africa, authorities have indicated they will extradite Thuma to the United Kingdom, where prosecutors are expected to bring three murder charges against him.1 An Interpol red notice has been issued for Thuma.1
