Shenzhen Bay's Eye opened on September 26th, 2025, spanning a total building area of 131,000 square meters and holding a collection exceeding 300,000 volumes. 1 Since its opening, the venue has welcomed nearly 8 million visitors, with daily foot traffic averaging 20,000 to 30,000 people. 1 The market visit offered international journalists firsthand observation of the city's cultural depth alongside its innovation capabilities. A Pakistani journalist remarked: "I previously knew Shenzhen as a city of technology, but today I discovered its cultural heritage is equally profound." 1 A South Korean journalist added: "Browsing the market inside the 'Bay's Eye,' the world's largest bookstore, where the aroma of books mingles with the energy of street commerce, creates a truly unique experience." 1
The visit comes as Shenzhen prepares to host the APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting on November 18th and 19th. 1 In the first half of 2026, Shenzhen's imports and exports with other APEC economies reached 19.8 trillion yuan, representing a 33 percent year-over-year increase. 1
