Among those attending the demonstration were Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi and independent Senator Lydia Thorpe, who urged the Australian government to pursue accountability.1 Faruqi criticized the federal government as "cowards" for failing to articulate how it would continue seeking justice for Frankcom's death.1 Thorpe brought a box containing the names of approximately 20,000 Palestinian children killed by Israel.1
Israeli Air Force Reserve Colonel Nochi Mendel, who participated in the strike, stated he would conduct the operation "exactly the same way" again and characterized the World Central Kitchen workers who were killed as "not innocent."1 Foreign Minister Penny Wong previously expressed anger at Israel's decision and questioned whether the drone strike occurred in a designated humanitarian ceasefire zone.1
